Jacob H. Regier

Jacob H. Regier, age 92, of Aurora, died Friday night, September 20, 2002, at the Hamilton Manor in Aurora.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, September 23rd at the Pleasant View Bible Church in Aurora. Rev. Rick Prettyman and Rev. Marlin Rasmussen will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 P.M. on Sunday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. OBITUARY: JACOB H. REGIER

Jacob H. Regier, the son of Abraham J. and Anna (Huebert) Regier, was born in York County, Nebraska on February 16, 1910 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on September 20, 2002, at the age of 92.

Jacob grew up on various farms in York and Hamilton Counties, where he received his education through the 8th grade. He attended Aurora High School for a year, but due to work on the farm was unable to finish high school.

Jacob was married to Tena Martens on February 21, 1932 at the Mennonite Brethren Church at Henderson. They lived and farmed in York and Hamilton Counties at various times during their marriage. In 1940, due to the drought in the 1930's they sold out their farming operation to move to California. In California, Jacob took a job in carpentry. One year later they moved back to Nebraska, where he resumed farming, which he continued until he retired. Jacob always enjoyed seeing the crops grow and harvesting those crops. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this past February.

Jacob was a member of the Pleasant View Bible Church in Aurora.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Abraham, Isaac, Peter and Henry, and four sisters, Marie Braun, Tena Regier, Sarah Matoushek and Martha Janzen.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Tena of Aurora; four children, Ken Regier and his wife LaVera of Aurora, Dr. Eugene Regier and his wife Carol of Canton, South Dakota, Gladys Ediger and her husband Alvin of Aurora and Dale Regier and his wife Theresa of Hampton; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by four brothers, Dan H. Regier and his wife Nancy, John H. Regier and his wife Erna all of Reedley, California, Gid Regier and his wife Norma of Dinuba, California and Sam Regier and his wife Mariann of Fresno, California and three sisters, Linda Janzen of Kearney, Irene Siering and her husband Herman of Fresno, California and Elsie Wall and her husband John of Reedley, California.
