Ted Regier

Ted Regier, age 84, of Aurora, died Tuesday afternoon, November 5, 2002, at Bryan/LGH East Hospital in Lincoln.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, November 8th at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Rev. Brian Kottas and Rev. Seth Leypoldt will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. on Thursday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 P.M. OBITUARY: TED REGIER

Theodore 'Ted' Regier, the son of Jacob and Sahra (Huebert) Regier, was born in Hepburn, Saskatchewan, Canada on October 26, 1918 and died in Lincoln, Nebraska on November 5, 2002, at the age of 84.

Ted grew up in Henderson and graduated from Henderson High School in 1936. He attended York College in 1936, Tabor College in 1937 and graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln with a Bachelor of Science & Vocational Education Degree from the College of Agriculture in 1941.

Ted was married to Marjorie "Marge" Ellen Wischmeier on January 2, 1944 at Lewiston. They started farming north of Henderson, and in 1953, moved to a farm southeast of Aurora, in 1961, they moved into their present home on the farm. Ted taught Vocational-Agriculture and on the Farm Veteran Training. Ted and Marge traveled extensively in later years. Marge passed away on June 28, 1996.

Ted was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Aurora, he served as trustee, member of the administration board, Sunday School Teacher and singing in the Mens Choir and the Church Choir. Ted served as Hamilton County ASCS Chairman and was Hamilton County Commissioner. He received the Aurora Chamber of Commerce Public Service Award and the Public Service to Agriculture from the Nebraska Agri-Business Club. Ted served as chairman of Twenty-Two Counties Mental Health Board in Nebraska. He served on the Memorial Hospital Board for 30 years. Ted was past president of the Aurora Lions Club. He was past president of Nebraska Farmers Natural Gas Users Association and initiated one of the first Natural Gas Distribution lines to local Irrigation Wells. Ted was a life-member of the UNL Alumni Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, six brothers, Jacob, Herman, Herman J., Dietrich, Dewey and Walter and four sisters, Esther Ediger, Rose Kasper, and infants Martha and Anna Regier.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Marjean Harshbarger and her husband Bill of Newton, Kansas and Joyce Stanway and her husband Gregg of Hotchkiss, Colorado; 2 grandsons, Jeff Harshbarger of Kansas City, Missouri and Ben Harshbarger of Lawrence, Kansas. He is also survived by sister-in-law, Martha Regier of Henderson and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
