Russell ReichardtRussell Reichardt, age 98, of Aurora, died Thursday, January 18, 2001, at Hamilton Manor. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday at the United Methodist Church of Aurora. Dr. Joe Scahill will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 P.M., Sunday at Higby Mortuary. OBITUARY: RUSSELL REICHARDT Russell Clarence Reichardt, the son of Homer and Ida Janette (Miller) Reichardt, was born in Seward County, Nebraska on November 1, 1902 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on January 18, 2001, at the age of 98 years, 2 months and 17 days. Russell lived briefly in Kansas and Merrick County before settling in Hamilton County. He attended public schools in Hamilton County and graduated from Aurora High School with the Class of 1921. On February 10, 1926, he was united in marriage to Marie Winter in Aurora. They farmed northeast of Aurora most of his life. In 1959, they moved into Aurora. After retirement he drove the school bus and worked as grounds keeper for the Aurora School District 4-R for 8 years. Marie passed away on May 30, 1984. Russell entered Hamilton Manor in March 1997. Russell was a lifelong member of the EUB/Aurora Methodist Church, joining the church on April 20, 1924. He was a faithful member of the Senior Men's Card Club, which met at the Bremer Center. He also served as school board member for District #69. Russell enjoyed the outdoors. He especially liked his flower and vegetable gardens. Russell was preceded in death by his wife, Marie and two sisters, Mabel Pearson and Anna Carnes. Survivors include his four children, Robert and his wife Shirley of Arlington, Texas, Mary Jane Rawlings and her husband Oren of Apex, North Carolina, Keith and his wife Jan of Aurora and Jim and his wife Ardith of Hampton; 12 grand children; 33 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great grandchildren and two sisters, Ruth Gundy of Washington, Illinois and Ida Reichardt of Lincoln. |
