Jack Robertshaw, age 61, of Aurora, died Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at Memorial Hospital.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Friday, February 1st at Aurora United Methodist Church. Revs. Richard Karohl and Marta Wheeler will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. Thursday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Family will receive friends from 5 – 7. OBITUARY: JACK ROBERTSHAW
Jack Robertshaw, the son of William Jack and Norma Jeanne (Benson) Robertshaw, was born in Hastings, Nebraska on January 26, 1947 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on January 29, 2008, at the age of 61.
He grew up in Giltner and graduated from Giltner High School and went on to receive a degree from the Grand Island Business College. Jack then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force.
Jack was united in marriage to Christina Johnson on December 30, 1971 at Ralston, Nebraska. Jack reenlisted in the Air Force and went on to serve his country for 22 ½ years as a Signals Analyst. His career in the military took him and his family to live on bases in Japan, Italy, Turkey, Greece, Nebraska and Maryland. After retiring from the Air Force, they returned to Aurora in 1989. Jack went to work for International Sensors and then became the second employee of Nebraska Cellular (which became Alliant and then Alltel). Jack worked the last eight years at Viaero Wireless in Grand Island as a Network Engineer.
Jack loved spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, spending time at their cabin, watching NASCAR and Nebraska sports, and being a ringman for Tom Cornwell Auctions.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Barry Robertshaw and sister-in-law, Lillian Oswald.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Christina Robertshaw of Aurora; three daughters, Tammy (Reynold) Merchant of Lincoln, Sara (Dan) Palmer of Chugiak, Alaska and Jenny (Chris) Friesen of Hampton; 6 grandchildren, Amanda, Catherine, Tyler, Matthew, Megan and Courtney and parents, William J. and Norma Robertshaw of Giltner. He is also survived by two brothers, Jerry (Mary Jane) Robertshaw and Tom Robertshaw all of Giltner; three sisters, Jean (John) Cates, Paula Omel and Peggy (Patrick) Bell all of Giltner, three sisters-in-law, Jeanne Robertshaw of Aurora, Polley (Ed) Olivera of San Carlos, CA and Susan (Ron) Sipe of San Antonio, TX; three brothers-in-law, Louis ‘Buzz’ Oswald of Aurora, Don (Barbara) Johnson of Littleton, CO and James (Naomi) Johnson of Ralston and numerous nieces and nephews.
