Plin RobothamPlin Robotham, age 76, of Marquette died Wednesday, March 22, 2000, after a lengthy illness at Memorial Long Term Care in Aurora. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday at United Methodist Church in Aurora. Dr. Joe Scahill will officiate. Interment will be in Richland Cemetery in Marquette. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M., Friday at Higby Mortuary. OBITUARY: PLIN ROBOTHAM Plin Robotham, the son of Harry Pliny and Etta (Brown) Robotham, was born at Oak Valley near Raymond, Nebraska on June 10, 1923 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on March 22, 2000, at the age of 76 years, 9 months and 12 days. He grew up on a farm at Pleasant Dale, Nebraska. He attended Highland Elementary school and graduated from Malcolm High School in 1941. His first job was hauling cement in a wheelbarrow to pave Highway 34. He worked for several years as a farm hand first in Elkhorn for Roy Johnson on a Dairy farm, and then for Bertram Brigham at Tamora. On March 10, 1946 at Malcolm, Nebraska he married Carol Grace Petsch of Pleasant Dale, Nebraska. They moved to Tamora in 1947 where he farmed for 7 years. Four children were born while in Tamora; Robert Plin, William, Steven and Carolin. In 1954, the family moved to Marquette, Nebraska to a dairy farm. They moved to their own dairy farm in 1974. In 1988, they moved to their current home on the edge of Marquette. He loved dairy cows and worked with them his entire life. He was a lifetime member of United Methodist Church, first at Malcolm, then Marquette and then Aurora. He served many years on the Pastor Parish Committee. On May 18, 1951, he was initiated into the Utica Lodge, AF & AM. He passed on June 18, 1951 and was raised on September 24, 1951. He later transferred to Friendship Lodge #239 AF & AM in Chapman where he was Worshipful Master for four years. He was also a member of Laura Mae Chapter, OES, #251. He served as Worthy Patron seven times. He recently received an Achievement Award from the Grand Lodge of Nebraska. Plin had served as secretary for the Marquette Rural Fire District for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, William. Survivors include his wife, Carol of Marquette; and three children: Robert of Milford, Steven of Marquette, Carolin Skordas of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida; three grandchildren, Shannon LeAnn Brydl of Oakland, Nebraska, Anthony Plin Robotham of Milford and Carol Alexis Skordas of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. He is also survived by four brothers; Frank, Leonard, Donald and Earl all of Pleasant Dale and one sister, Harriett Booher of Santa Rosa, California and many nieces and nephews. |
