Orville Roehrs

Orville Roehrs, age 90, formerly of Hampton, died Sunday, April 25, 2010, at the Nebraska Veterans Home in Grand Island.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, April 27th at Zion Lutheran Church north of Hampton. Rev. Loren Cooper will officiate. Interment will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will from 4 -8 P.M. on Monday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: ORVILLE ROEHRS

Orville Arnold Roehrs, the son of August and Ida (Opfer) Roehrs, was born in Hamilton County, Nebraska on May 17, 1919 and died in Grand Island, Nebraska on April 25, 2010, at the age of 90.

Orville grew up near Hampton and attended Zion Lutheran School through the 8th grade. He worked on the family farm before entering the U.S. Army, serving in World War II.

On July 11, 1944, he was married to Marjorie Mundt at the Polk Immanuel Lutheran Church. They began farming northeast of Hampton in 1947, and they moved into Hampton in February of 1988. Marjorie passed away on September 23, 1988. Orville has resided at the Veterans Home since February of 2006.

Orville was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church by Hampton.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie; parents; mother and father-in-law, Henry and Helen Mundt; brothers, Gilbert and Ardean Roehrs; sisters, Erma (Clarence) Driewer and Verla (John) Rathje; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Don Wall, Norman (Clara) Dobberstein, Carl (Laura) Berger, Herb (Thelma) Mundt and Carl Mundt and Alfred Wohl.

Those left to cherish his memory are his five children, Barbara (Larry) Stettner of Hampton, Dennis (Judy) Roehrs of Hampton, Allan (Carolyn) Roehrs of Bradshaw, Phyllis (Frank) Brumbaugh of Bradshaw and Sharon (Kirk) Goertzen of Hampton. Grandchildren are Rick (Kris) Stettner, Shawna Smith, Danny Smith, Darrin (Terri) Brumbaugh, Dixie (Seth) Christian, Adam (Amanda) Goertzen, Scott Goertzen, Michelle (Kellen) Meyer, Tim (Alycia) Robertson and Joshua Roehrs. Great-grandchildren are Aaron, Collin and Cy Friesen, Tommy, Taylor and Taryn Stettner, Austin Barth, Isabelle and Ava Brumbaugh, Zayli and Ezekiel Christian, Samantha, Andrew, Nathan and Jeremiah Goertzen, Kinslee Meyer and Makenzie Robertson. He is also survived by a brother, Raymond (Norma) Roehrs and sisters, Norma (Bill) Gallent and Elva Wall; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Doris Roehrs, Thelma Roehrs, Dorothy and Rolland Bamesberger, Irene Mundt and Marie Wohl.
