Lena Rouse

Lena Rouse, age 89, of Aurora, died Saturday, October 6, 2007, at the Hamilton Manor.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, October 11th at the Pleasant View Bible Church in Aurora. Rev. Rick Prettyman will officiate. Interment will be in the Minden Cemetery at 10:00. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: LENA ROUSE

Lena Minnie Rouse, the daughter of Henry and Clara (Yung) Fausch, was born at the Fausch home northeast of Guide Rock, Nebraska on February 15, 1918 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on October 6, 2007, at the age of 89.

Lena grew up on her parent’s farm northeast of Guide Rock and attended a one- room country school for 8 years and went on to graduate from Guide Rock High School in 1935.

Lena was married to Max Rouse on November 30, 1939 at her parent’s home. Lena devoted her life to caring for their seven children. In 1970 she went to work as office manager for Agrico Farm Service Center in Aurora. She retired in 1980. She was a dedicated member of her church in every community where she lived. After retiring in 1980, Lena and her husband spent the next 21 winters at Mesa Regal RV Resort in Mesa, Arizona, where they enjoyed the warm days and many new and old friends. Max passed away on November 14, 2002. At that time, Lena chose to reside at Hamilton Manor in Aurora where she was known and loved for her sweet disposition and beautiful smile.

Lena was a competitive shuffleboard player, volunteered her assistance at the chapel services, a member of the Golden Anniversary Club and Pioneer Club at the resort

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Stephen Rouse; five brothers and one sister.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her two sons, Phil Rouse and his wife Betty of Trenton and Randy Rouse and his wife Rebecca of Hondo, Texas; 4 daughters, Sharon Watson and her husband Kent of Apache Junction, Arizona, Linda Sherman and her husband Gale of Omaha, Diane Bell and her husband Leroy of Grand Island and Kathy Bachman and her husband Doug of Giltner; 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
