Max Rouse
Max Rouse, age 85, of Aurora, died Thursday, November 14, 2002, at his home in Aurora. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, November 19th at the Pleasant View Bible Church in Aurora. Rev. Rick Prettyman will officiate. Interment will be in the Minden Cemetery at 10:00 A.M. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com. OBITUARY: MAX ROUSE Max Y. Rouse, the son of Loy Lester and Isel (Yohe) Rouse, was born at home on the family farm six miles north of Guide Rock, Nebraska on January 11, 1917 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on November 14, 2002, at the age of 85. Max grew up on the family farm 7 ½ miles north of Guide Rock. He attended Eckley Consolidated School for 12 years and graduated in 1934. Max helped on the family farm and drove the school bus following graduation. Max was married to Lena Fausch on November 30, 1939 at the home of Lena's parents, Mr. and Mrs Henry Fausch. He worked for Armour & Co., then went back to farming when his brother served in WWII. In 1947, he farmed in Ayr, Nebraska south of the Little Blue River for four years. Max worked in sales for McClelland Farm Equipment in Hastings from 1951-59 and Peister Grain & Fertilizer in Minden for the following 8 years and Hanson Elevator in Hastings for the next 2 years. He worked in Aurora as manager for Agrico Farm Service from 1969 until he retired in 1980. After retirement, Max and Lena spent the next 21 winters at Mesa Regal RV Resort in Mesa, Arizona where they enjoyed the warm days and many new and old friends. Max was a respected shuffleboard player in the Arizona State Shuffleboard Association and was a team captain many years. Max was a member of the Aurora Lions Club for 10 years, serving a term as president. He was also a member of the Pleasant View Bible Church. Max served as a founding member of the chapel committee, member of the Golden Anniversary Club and the Pioneer Club at the resort. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Stephen Rouse, two brothers and one sister. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Lena of Aurora; two sons, Phil Rouse and his wife Betty of Trenton and Randy Rouse and his wife Rebecca of San Antonio, Texas; 4 daughters, Sharon Watson and her husband Kent of Mesa, Arizona, Linda Sherman and her husband Gale of Omaha, Diane Bell and her husband Leroy of Grand Island and Kathy Bachman and her husband Doug of Giltner; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and a sister, Sylvia Engel of St. Paul, Minnesota. |
