Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Monday, March 11, 1996 at Higby Mortuary. Interment was held in the Richland Cemetery in Marquette, Nebraska.

OBITUARY: Howard Russell

Howard Kenneth Russell, the son of George and Jessie (Young) Russell, was born near Marquette, Nebraska, on May 29, 1908, and died at his home at Marquette, Nebraska, on March 7, 1996, at the age of 87 years, 9 months, and 18 days.

His grand parents homesteaded in Hamilton County, and he was raised south of Marquette, and attended school in that area.

On October 10, 1931, he was united in marriage to Florence Holtz, at Fullerton, Nebraska. They lived west of Marquette, where he farmed, raised horses and milked cows. He also sold seed corn for a number of years. Florence preceded him in death on March 23, 1995.

Howard enjoyed horse shows, antique auctions, and playing cards.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 2 brothers and 4 sisters.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his 3 sons, Robert and his wife Darlene of Grand Island, Thomas of Lamar, and Melvyn and his wife Sylvia of Marquette; 5 daughters, Beverly Gustafson and her husband Richard of Aurora, Rosalie Russell of Marquette, Sandra Mankin and her husband Wendell of Aurora, Karen McClure and her husband David of Palmer, and Nancy McDonald and her husband Larry of Aurora; one sister Bertha Yemington of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; 19 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren.
