Robert RuttenRobert Rutten, age 63, of Marquette, Nebraska died Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at his home. A Private Viewing was held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, April 15th for family members. Bob’s wishes were to be cremated and a special family gathering will be held later this summer. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora, Nebraska is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be sent for Cancer Research. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com. OBITUARY: ROBERT RUTTEN Robert Joseph Rutten, the son of Laurence and Agnes (Merten) Rutten was born March 27, 1948 on the family farm at Cedar Rapids, Nebraska, and died in Marquette, Nebraska on April 13, 2011, at the age of 63. After graduating from Cedar Rapids High School, Bob entered into the U.S. Army on October 17, 1967. He served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged on October 16, 1969. Bob received the Purple Heart among other awards. He was a member of the V.F.W and the Eagles. For many years Bob worked at the feed mill in Columbus and other jobs. He lived in the V.A. home in Grand Island for several years before moving to Marquette. Bob enjoyed playing cards, doing cross word puzzles and visiting with friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Richard. Bob is survived by his three children, Brian, Melissa and Jill Rutten; six grandchildren; a sister, Betty (Bob) Bradley of Shirley, Arkansas and special friend, Clare Simonson. |
