Mervin Saatmann
Mervin Saatmann, age 65, of Aurora, died Wednesday, June 13, 2007, at St. Francis Hospital in Grand Island. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Monday, June 18th at the Assembly of God Church in Aurora. Rev. James Garfield will officiate. Interment will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery at 2:00 P.M. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 P.M. Sunday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. OBITUARY: MERVIN SAATMANN Mervin Christian Saatmann, the son of Christian and Irene (Krisl) Saatmann, was born in Strang, Nebraska on January 1, 1942 and died in Grand Island, Nebraska on June 13, 2007, at the age of 65. He attended school in Ohiowa and went on to obtain his G.E.D. On May 19, 1989, he was united in marriage to Linda Kay Roberts at Grand Island. Mervin farmed and then went on to become a dairy farmer. When they moved to Belvidere he worked on a combine crew, that traveled from state to state. Mervin was a truck driver and he worked at Wal-Mart in Grand Island. He was a jack of all trades. Mervin was a member of the Assembly of God Church. He was one of the original members that started having coffee at the church on Saturday mornings. Mervin liked to go fishing, camping and attending family reunions. He enjoyed doing yard work and helping his neighbors whenever he could. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Maryann Clark and Louisa Braden and three brothers-in-law, David Diekhoff, Clarence Clark and Ted Clark. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Linda Saatmann of Aurora; daughter, Jerry Kay Hergenreder of Greeley, Colorado; step-sons, Mark E. Simons of Grand Island and Gary Bradshaw of Arizona; two step-daughters, Terry Span of Colorado and Sherry Bradshaw of Arizona; two granddaughters, Casey Lynn Hergenreder and Randie Jo Span; two grandsons, Brian Hergenreder and Josh Span; two sisters, Christine Diekhoff and Darlene (Art) Schumacher and lots of nieces and nephews. |
