William Sack

William 'Bill' Sack, age 58, of Aurora, died Thursday morning, November 27, 2003, at his home.

A Memorial Service will be held 10:00 A.M. Monday, December 1st at the First Christian Church in Aurora. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: WILLIAM SACK

William Lee Sack, the son of Lloyd Lee and Marian (Hohbein) Sack, was born in St. Joseph, Missouri on February 10, 1945 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on November 27, 2003, at the age of 58.

Bill attended Aurora Public Schools and graduated in 1963. In 1965, Bill graduated from Milford Community College, with an Associate Degree in Building Construction Technology. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy for four years, as a builder in the Seabees.

While in the Seebees, Bill served three tours in VietNam. He was in DeNang in 1966 with MCB 11. Bill was in Chu-Lai in 1967 and in Hue Phu Bai in 1968 during the Tet offensive. In 1967, he married Irene Banuelos in Port Huemene, California. In December 1968, he was honorable discharged from military service, at which time he returned to Nebraska to join the family business.

In 1972, Bill and Irene moved back to Aurora to reside and continue raising their family. They have been married for 36 years and have three daughters; Gina (Ferhinger) her husband Scott and children, Blake, Mattie, Trey and Eva; Angie Sack and son, Andrew Sack and Nikki Sack and son Titan Collazo. Brian Kemling and his wife Sara and their daughter, Rya were included as part of the family. Bill worked for the family lumber business for 33 years.

Bill did his share of volunteer work in the community. He was a volunteer fireman for 10 years, and an EMT for 14 years. He served as Quartermaster for the V.F.W. for the past 13 years and had been an active member since 1966. Bill was also an active member of the American Legion for 21 years. He currently was a member of the Nebraska Air Boaters Association. His hobbies included parachuting and scuba diving, which led him on many travels overseas. He earned Military Jump Parachuting Wings in Guatemala, El Salvador, Dominican Republic, Thailand, East Germany, Hungary The Peoples Republic of China, Vietnam and Honduras. His favorite hobbies included barbecuing, camping, jeeping and air boating with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Irene; brother, Steve Sack; three daughters, Gina Ferhinger and her husband Scott, Angie Sack and Nikki Sack and 6 grandchildren, Blake, Mattie, Trey and Eva Ferhinger, Andrew Sack and Titan Collazo.
