Dorothy SaddlerFuneral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, September 4, 1993 at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Interment was held in the Greenwood Cemetery near Trumbull, Nebraska. OBITUARY: Dorothy Saddler Dorothy May Saddler, the daughter of Edward and Verna (Smith) Dominy, was born in Adams County, Nebraska, on May 4, 1907, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on September 2, 1993, at the age of 86 years, 3 months, and 28 days. She grew up and attended grade school District #31 in Adams County, and then lived with an aunt and uncle in Shenandoah, Iowa, where she graduated from High School in 1925. After graduation she taught school near Coin, Iowa, then she returned to Adams County, began attending college, and graduated from Hastings College. After her college graduation she taught in rural Adams County an in Hastings Public Schools. On August 1, 1937, she was united in marriage to Harry Saddler at her parent’s home near Hansen. They lived in the Prosser Community until they moved to a farm east of Giltner, and she returned to teaching in Giltner and in Aurora, until her retirement in 1972. Dorothy was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church, and was active in the church circles. She also was a member of the retired teacher’s association, belonged to the Cornhusker Camping Club, the association of national campers and hikers, and was active in extension club work in Adams County. She was preceded in death by her parents. Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband, Harry of Aurora; 2 sons, Grant and his wife Lois, and Dale and his wife Carol of Aurora; 3 sisters, Alice Bierman of Hastings, Margery Boontjer of Redding California, and Helen Owens of Hastings; 3 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and 3 step-grandsons. |
