OBITUARY: FRANK SAILORS

Frank Mayo Sailors, the son of Don and Maude (Auxier) Sailors, was born in Falls City, Nebraska on December 7, 1933 and died in Lincoln, Nebraska on August 5, 2004, at the age of 70.

He graduated from Shubert High School in 1952. Frank worked for several oil drilling companies before enlisting in the Navy in 1953. He was a crewmember on the aircraft carriers, USS Kearsarge and the USS Shangri La. Frank was honorably discharged from the service in 1957, he then began working for Homer Henke Freight Company until 1960. At this time Frank went to work for the Missouri Pacific Railroad as a signalman. He later transferred to the Union Pacific Railroad for whom he worked until he retired in 1993.

On May 6, 1971, he was united in marriage to Constance (Connie) Joan Richey at Hiawatha, Kansas. Due to his job with the railroad they lived in various places before they settled in Marquette in 1975. Frank's life was his family. He was happiest when surrounded by Connie, his children and grandchildren. When not engaged in home projects, Frank spent many hours camping, fishing and attending his grandchildren's activities. It is said that patience is a virtue. Frank lived that thought throughout his life and that is reflected in the tremendous love that his family showed for him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Alex Jackson.

He is survived by his wife Connie Sailors of Marquette; six children, Tom (Barb) Sailors of Beatrice, Krista (Mike) Simpson of Ashland, Kelly (Chris) Kolb of Grand Island, Randy (Sandra) Nutzman of Aurora, Rhonda (Barry) Dietrich of Marquette and Glenda (Jeff) Schulz of Seward and 12 grandchildren.
