Johanna SandbergFuneral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, May 21, 1997 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Interment was held in the Aurora Catholic Cemetery. OBITUARY: Johanna Sandberg Johanna L. Sandberg, the daughter of Richard and Mary (Hannen) Ormond, was born in Hamilton County, Nebraska, on September 12, 1912, and died at her home in Aurora, Nebraska, on May 18, 1997, at the age of 84 years, 8 months, and 6 days. She grew up and received her education at Giltner, and graduated in 1928. She began teaching in rural and high schools for 7 years, and in 1940, she graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. She was also employed as a secretary in Washington D.C., the Grand Island Air Base, and the Harvard Air Base. On November 14, 1946, she was united in holy matrimony to Willard Sandberg at Grand Island. He preceded her in death on May 21, 1977. At the time of her marriage she was employed at the Bureau of Reclamation in Grand Island. Following her marriage they farmed northwest of Aurora, and in 1982, she moved into the Crossroads Court in Aurora. Johanna was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 2 brothers, James and Richard Ormond. Those who remain to cherish her memory are her son John and his wife Patricia of Aurora; one brother David Ormond of Santa Barbara, California; one sister Mary McMahon of Bethany, Missouri; 2 grandchildren, Abraham and Meredith Sandberg. |
