Betty L. Saunders

Betty L. Grosvenor Saunders, age 77, former Superintendent of Schools in Hall County, Nebraska, died June 9th in Omaha.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, June 14th at the Presbyterian United Church of Christ in Aurora, Nebraska. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Hamilton Community Foundation in care of the Betty Grosvenor Saunders Scholarship in Education. BETTY L. SAUNDERS

Saunders held the office of Hall County Superintendent for 20 years. She was one of the first women educational administrators in Nebraska. She received her Bachelors Degree from Doane College in 1953, her Masters in Educational Administration from the University of Nebraska -Lincoln in 1966 and her Specialists Degree in Education Administration from UNL. She also served on the National Education Task Force under President Reagan.

Betty grew up in Aurora, Nebraska and was married to Edward F. Saunders Jr. for 51 years. She was active in many civic and charitable organizations including PEO, Dundee Presbyterian Church, American Association of University Women, Opera Omaha Guild, Omaha Symphony Guild, and Joslyn Art Museum. She was a recipient of the Grand Island Business and Professional Women's Club Woman of Achievement Award and was inducted into the Aurora High School Alumni Hall of Fame in 1995.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward F. Saunders.

Survivors include her daughter, Trudy Bredthauer, Son-in-law, Dr. Bryan Bredthauer, two grandsons, Jacob Tyler Bredthauer and David Anthony Bredthauer, brother, Robert Grosvenor, Sister-in-law, Jan Grosvenor, nephews, Gregg Grosvenor, Jeff Grosvenor, Todd Grosvenor , Cousin, Budd (Mary Ann) Pence.
