Ronald SchaafFuneral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, July 18, 1996 at the Aurora Evangelical Free Church. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: Scott Schaaf Ronald Scott Schaaf, was born to Ronald and Jody (Kilcoin) Schaaf, at O’Neill, Nebraska, on January 21, 1976, and died at Chicago, Illinois, on July 13, 1996, at the age of 20 years, 5 months, and 22 days. He grew up in Aurora, attended school in Aurora and Grand Island, and graduated from Derby, Kansas High School in 1994. He was a soccer referee for the Derby Recreation Commission and a T-Ball umpire for 2 years. On May 3, 1996, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, was stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Center, had just completed basic training, and received his seaman rating, at the time of his death. Scott was a member of the Linwood Friends Church in Wichita, Kansas, was active in Boy Scouts of America and had earned the highest honor in Cub Scouting, the Arrow of Light. He played little league baseball, and wrestled and played football in high school. He was also involved in AWANA. His hobbies included, fishing, sailing, camping, and water skiing. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Bill Schaaf and Jim Kilcoin. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his 3 sisters, Leisa Rowe of Grand Island, Rachel Morgan of Alda, and Savannah Schaaf of Prosser; two brothers, Kahl Schaaf of Hastings, and Blake Schaaf of Derby, Kansas; his parents, Randy and Jody Morgan of Derby, Kansas, and Ron and Debbie Schaaf of Prosser; his grandmothers, Sharon Kilcoin of Grand Island, and Lorene Schaaf of Lynch. |
