Rudolf Schaffert

Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, June 13, 1998 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hampton, Nebraska. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Rudolf Schaffert

Rudolf Fred Schaffert, the son of John and Rosina (Wagner) Schaffert, was born in Hamilton County, Nebraska, on April 1, 1911, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on June 11, 1998, at the age of 87 years, 2 months, and 10 days.

He grew up and received his education at the Brickyard School south of Aurora, and farmed with his father. Later he began farming on his own.

On March 19, 1939, he was united in marriage to Christine Miller at the Salem Lutheran Church south of Hampton. They moved to a farm northeast of Aurora, and in 1954, they moved to a farm southwest of Aurora. In 1995, he moved to the Colonial Corner in Aurora, and in 1997, he entered the Hamilton Manor in Aurora.

“Rudy” was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hampton, served on the building committee, served several positions on the church board, and had served has head usher. He was a long time member of the rural fire board.

He loved planting trees, and caring for his animals and his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Oswald and Rubert, and one grandson.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife “Tena” of Aurora; four sons, Richard and Donald both of Aurora, Ronald of Park Ridge, Illinois, and Robert of West Lafayette, Indiana; three brothers Harold of Ontario, California, John C. of Aurora, and Walter of Lincoln; one sister Bertha Arndt of Aurora; 7 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
