Clifford Scherff

Clifford Scherff, age 83, of Aurora died Saturday, May 15, 1999, at Hamilton Manor in Aurora.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday afternoon at the Presbyterian Church in Aurora. Interment will be in Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M., Tuesday at Higby Mortuary in Aurora.

OBITUARY: CLIFFORD SCHERFF

Clifford Scherff, the son of George and Myrtle (Youngblood) Scherff, was born in Pottersville, Missouri, on October 1, 1915 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on May 15, 1999, at the age of 83 years, 7 months and 14 days.

He grew up near Pottersville, Missouri and went to a country school there.

On December 13, 1938, he was united in marriage to Geneva Williams in Pottersville, Missouri. He was lifetime farmer. He farmed in Caulfield, Missouri before moving his family to the Stockham area in Hamilton County in 1946. After retiring from farming in 1980, he and Geneva moved to Aurora.

Clifford was a 4-H leader when his sons were members in the 1950’s. He was active in the Lions; he served as President and was very active until his illness prevented him from participating. After retiring he spent many volunteer hours on restoration projects at the Plainsman Museum. He also served on the organizational board at the Hamilton County Manor.

His parents, two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife Geneva Scherff of Aurora; three sons, Lee Scherff and his wife Carole of Clay Center, Nebraska, Jerry Scherff of Aurora and Roy Scherff and his wife Patty of Overland Park, Kansas; two brothers, Amos Scherff of Pottersville, Missouri and Calvin Scherff of Clarksville, Arkansas; six grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
