Funeral Services were held 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, April 25, 1989 at Higby Mortuary. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Christine Schertz

Christine Schertz, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Glantz) Sterkel, was born at Sutton, Nebraska, on November 25, 1895, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on April 22, 1989, at the age of 93 years, 4 months, and 27 days.

She was raised and attended country school near Sutton.

On November 16, 1914, she was united in marriage to Jesse Schertz, at Hastings. He preceded her in death on March 23, 1962.

After their marriage they lived in the Aurora area.

Christine was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one infant son Victor; 2 brothers, Henry and George Sterkel; 5 sisters, Anna Pope, Minnie Pope, Emma Hamburg, Louise Winter and Katie Kleinschmidt; and a step-son Lloyd.

She is survived by nieces and nephews, including, Hilda Joyce of Aurora, Robert Sterkel of Sutton, Edna Nolde of Edgar, Marvin Pope of Sutton, Raymond Pope of Hastings, and Josephone Yost of Hastings.
