Clarence Schmidt

Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Monday, August 24, 1998 at the Aurora Messiah Lutheran Church. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Clarence Schmidt

Clarence O. Schmidt, the son of Edward and Beatrice (Uldrich) Schmidt, was born at Sutton, Nebraska, on July 29, 1921, and died at Omaha, Nebraska on August 21, 1998, at the age of 77 years, and 23 days.

He grew up at Sutton, where he graduated from High School, and then attended 2 years at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. He served two years in the Army/Air Force during World War II.

On June 29, 1942, he was united in marriage to Marion Cranston, at Clay Center, Nebraska. She preceded him in death on January 28, 1977. They resided in Buffalo, New York for a year, then returned to Sutton, where they farmed for two years before they bought a farm near Stockham, where they farmed until he retired.

On December 23, 1978, he married Rosemarie (Krebs) Edris. They lived in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and wintered in Arizona, and traveled the world.

Clarence was a member of the Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church in Omaha. He loved the game of volleyball, and participated in the National Senior Olympics.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife Marion.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Rosemarie, of Council Bluffs, Iowa; his children Harlan and his wife Joyce; Andrea Haynes, and her husband Larry all of Aurora, Colorado; Michael Edris and his wife Deborah of Omaha; Christy Edris of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Lori Pruet and her husband Mark of Phoenix, Arizona; one brother Ervin Schmidt, and one sister Dorothy Rabbe, both of Sutton, Nebraska; and 4 grandchildren, Eric Schmidt, Alicia Whitten, Falon Haynes, and Christopher Edris.
