Lenora SchmidtFuneral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 24, 1992 at Zoin Lutheran Church north of Hampton. Interment was held in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. OBITUARY: Leonora Schmidt Leonora Elisabeth Wilhelmine Schmidt, the daughter of Leopold and Mary Leyrer Lenz, was born in Hamilton County, on February 1, 1898, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on June 19, 1992, at the age of 94 years, 4 months, and 18 days. She grew up in Polk County, and attended parochial school at North Blue Church, and then helped out at home taking care of her family. On January 1, 1919, she was united in marriage to Constantine Schmidt, at the Zion Lutheran Church north of Hampton. He preceded her in death on September 23, 1974. After their marriage they farmed in the Hampton and Bradshaw area. In 1964, they retired and moved into Hampton, and in December of 1989, she moved into the Hamilton Manor in Aurora. Leonora was a long time member of the Zion Lutheran Church, and belonged to the Ladies aid and the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one son Rolland, 6 brothers, Elmer, Ernst, Leopold, Richard, Ray and Arnold; 3 sisters, Renate Pohl, Marie Nau, and Ella Beck. Those who remain to cherish her memory are her son Ralph Schmidt of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; one sister Vera Walter of Schuyler; 2 granddaughters, Constance Raggio and Elisabeth Schmidt; 2 great grandchildren, Michael Raggio and Anne Marie Raggio; and many Schmidt and Lenz nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews in Nebraska, Missouri and Washington state. |
