Helen SchusterFuneral Services were held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, December 22, 1984 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Grand Island. Interment was held in the West Lawn Cemetery in Grand Island. OBITUARY: Helen Schuster Helen J. Schuster, the daughter of Henry and Antonette (Olthoff) (Stulken), was born on a farm east of Hastings, Nebraska, on June 1, 1904, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on December 20, 1984 at the age of 80 years, 6 months and 19 days. In 1908 she moved with her parents to a farm east of Doniphan. She attended country school and graduated from Hastings High School in 1922. She then taught 4 years in her home school. On October 6, 1926 she was united in marriage to Paul C. Schuster. They farmed south of Phillips until 1969, when she and her husband retired and moved to Aurora. Helen was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and Hannah Circle in Grand Island. She was also a member and past matron of the Phillips Chapter #204 of the Eastern Star, the Aurora Woman’s Club, Aurora Garden Club and T.P.M. Extension Club since 1930. She was a member of the Platt Duetsche Society and the Eagles Auxiliary, both of Grand Island; and a member of the Hamilton Manor Board for several years. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ed Stulken. Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband, Paul; 3 sons, Donald of Phillips, Gordon of Grand Island and William of Phillips; one sister, Mrs. Lillian Shum of Stockton, California; 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and close friends. |
