Claude Scott

Claude Allen Scott, age 82, of Aurora, died Wednesday morning, February 18, 2004 at his home.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, February 20th at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Rev. Seth Leypoldt will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. Thursday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: CLAUDE ALLEN SCOTT

Claude Allen Scott, the son of Dennis and Lena (Gee) Scott, was born in Palmer, Nebraska on July 12, 1921 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on February 18, 2004, at the age of 82 years.

He grew up and graduated from high school in Palmer. Claude worked for a grocery store and also the Foster Lumber Company in Palmer. He was in the Army Air Corps for a short time until he contracted rheumatic fever. He then moved to Bremerton, Washington where he became a manager for Safeway.

Claude was united in marriage to Gail Clare Wright on November 21, 1943 at Tacoma, Washington. They moved to Nebraska, and he managed the Safeway store in Wahoo for several years. Safeway moved them to Lincoln where he managed a store. Later he went to work for Pegler & Co. as a warehouse manager for several years. He worked for American Stores for a time before going to work for the University of Nebraska. He was in charge of supplies for the libraries at all locations at the University of Nebraska. They returned to Aurora in 1988.

Claude was a member of the United Methodist Church. He was also very active in the Aurora Lions Club.

Claude loved woodworking and was a rock-hound. He enjoyed polishing the rocks.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Norval, and his two sisters, Evelyn Davis and Marjorie Hurtt.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Gail Clare of Aurora; his daughters, Sandra Scott of Lincoln and Lois Leach of Littleton, Colorado; a brother, Everett Scott of Bellflower, California; one granddaughter, Alyson Leach of the University of Colorado at Boulder.
