Wilmer SenffFuneral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Thursday, Augusts 6, 1998 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hampton, Nebraska. Interment was held in the Hampton Cemetery. OBITUARY: Wilmer Senff Wilmer Theodore Senff, the son of Theodore and Bertha (Regelean) Senff, was born near Hampton, Nebraska, on January 4, 1928, and died at Kearney, Nebraska, on August 3, 1998, at the age of 70 years, 6 months, and 29 days. He grew up near Hampton, attended St. Peter Lutheran School, and graduated from Hampton High School in 1945. He enlisted in the U.S. Army when he was 18, and served with the Occupation forces in Japan, from April 1946, until his discharge in September 1947. On June 20, 1948, he was united in marriage to Doris Russell at Aurora, Nebraska. He farmed north of Hampton for 12 years, then moved into Hampton and entered the insurance business. He was one of the top salesmen for the Midwest Life Insurance Company of Lincoln, Nebraska for several years. In 1975, he moved to Republican City, Nebraska, and started North Shore Insurance Agency. In 1992, he retired and continued to reside on the North Shore of Harlan County Lake. Wilmer was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church northeast of Hampton, had been a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church at Hampton, and was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Alma, Nebraska. He was also a member of the American Legion and V.F.W. Clubs. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and coaching his son’s baseball teams. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Russell, a grandson Michael David Senff, and a sister Edna Lenz. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his 3 sons, Steven and his wife Phyllis, of Clay Center, Clark and his wife Marilyn of Manhattan, Kansas, and David and his wife Linda of Hampton; one daughter Sandra Fairley and her husband Andy of Daykin; one sister Lillian Lenz of Everett, Washington, a daughter-in-law Susan Senff of Omaha, 10 grandchildren, his fiance Maxine Mock of Republican City, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. |
