Lyle & Peggy Shaneyfelt

Margaret Ruth “Peggy” Shaneyfelt, 99, of Aurora, passed away on November 2, 2013.

A Memorial Service for Margaret and Lyle Shaneyfelt will be held at the Aurora United Methodist Church in Aurora, Nebraska at 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 8, 2013. Memorials are suggested to the Aurora United Methodist Church 1104 A Street, Aurora, NE 68818 or the Memorial Foundation, Inc. 1423 7th St. Aurora, NE 68818. Margaret Ruth Hull Shaneyfelt was born in Aurora, Nebraska on November 29, 1913 to parents Samuel and Grace Bayne Hull and died in Aurora, Nebraska on November 2, 2013. She graduated from Aurora High School and married Lyle Shaneyfelt. They celebrated 80 years of marriage on June 14, 2013.

They had four children, Richard Lee, Margaret Anne, Sonja Sue, and Roger Allen. Richard Lee and Roger Allen have preceded them in death. Both Margaret Anne Poe and Sonja Sue Zaruba survive them and live in North Carolina. Peggy was also preceded in death by her husband Lyle on September 11, 2013.

Lyle was born in Sherman County Nebraska on September 23, 1910 to parents, John and Elizabeth Coulter Shaneyfelt Peggy and Lyle spent most of their lives owning and running the Shaneyfelt produce. They were both active in Scouts, taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and served on various committees at the Methodist Church. Lyle was also very active in the Lions Club served as Mayor of Aurora and was on the Memorial Foundation Board of Directors.

They are survived by a beloved daughter-in-law, Mary Miller and her husband, Bob, 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Lyle is also survived by a brother, Glen, of Norfolk, Nebraska and a sister Lois Jean Buttermore of North Platte, Nebraska.
