Virginia Shaneyfelt

Virginia Shaneyfelt, age 87, of Aurora, died Monday, March 27, 2006, at her home.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 4th at the Assembly of God Church. Pastor Jim Garfield will officiate. Interment will be in Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 P.M. to 8 P.M. Monday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: VIRGINIA SHANEYFELT

Virginia Lela Shaneyfelt, the daughter of Frank J. and Ida Floyd (McMillan) Jones, was born in Maxwell, Nebraska on April 29, 1918 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on March 27, 2006, at the age of 87.

At a young age she moved with her family to McGrew, Nebraska, where she attended school and graduated in 1936. In the fall of 1936, she attended the School of Cosmetology in Denver, Colorado. In 1938, Virginia went to the Grand Island Beauty School.

Virginia married William Dean Shaneyfelt on March 5, 1938. They moved to Menard, Texas where Dean worked in the oil fields. In 1941, they returned to Aurora and Dean went to work at the Ordinance Plant. Virginia worked as a bookkeeper for Sack Lumber, a clerk at Greg's Drugs, a receptionist at Ross Insurance and a CSM aid at the Hamilton Manor. Dean passed away on February 18, 1994.

After retirement she enjoyed her garden, flowers, sewing, horse racing and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother, Pearl DeBelly; husband, three brothers and a sister.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Bill (Sandra) Shaneyfelt of Castle Rock, Colorado and Mark (Connie) Shaneyfelt of Aurora; 7 grandchildren, Rick (Kim) Shaneyfelt of Omaha, Marty (Wendy) Shaneyfelt of Albuquerque, NM, Todd (Abby) Shaneyfelt of Phoenix, AZ, April (John) Campbell of Aurora, Paul Shaneyfelt of Aurora, Danielle Shaneyfelt of Aurora and Anna Shaneyfelt of Aurora; 13 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Lynn Vetter of Aurora; sister-in-law, Mary Shaneyfelt of St. George, KS and many nieces and nephews.
