Doug Shaw
Doug Shaw, age 64, of Aurora, died Friday, September 3, 2010, at his home. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 8th at the Aurora United Methodist. Dr. F. Cole Fowler will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 P.M. on Tuesday at the Aurora United Methodist Church, 1104 A Street. Family will greet friends from 5 – 7 P.M. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. OBITUARY: DOUG SHAW Douglas Merrill Shaw, the son of Chester Merrill and Ruth Eleanor (Chamberlain) Shaw, was born at Lincoln, Nebraska on March 7, 1946 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on September 3, 2010, at the age of 64. He grew up and attended elementary and junior high school in Pleasant Dale, graduating from Milford High School. Doug graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan in 1968. On June 3, 1966, he was married to Anita J. Stutzman in Milford. Doug taught and coached in Central City from 1968-1977 and in Aurora from 1977-1979. He entered the insurance business in 1979 as a partner of McBride, Koepke and Shaw. Doug eventually became owner and changed the name to Aurora Insurance and continued until 2010. Doug was a member of Big I, Professional Insurance Agent (PIA) and PIA Agent of the Year in 2007. He was a charter member of the Aurora Optimist in 1982; serving as president in 1991-92 and on the Board of Adjustments for many years. Doug was named Optimist of the Year in 1986-87 and 1990-1991. He enjoyed travelling, golfing, and fishing. Doug loved spending time with his grandchildren. He especially liked making brownies with them. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Anita of Aurora; four children, sons & daughters-in-law, Cory (Kristi) Shaw of Omaha and Matthew (Dawn) Shaw of Aurora; daughters & sons-in-law, Kelly (Nick) Boswell of Omaha and Lisa (Troy) Eurek of Kearney; 8 grandchildren, Nicholas and Mason Shaw, Sydney and Ethan Shaw, Caden and Curran Boswell, Colton and Taylor Eurek and a brother and sister-in-law, Larry (Jan) Shaw of Pleasant Dale. |
