Claude Shipps
Claude Shipps, age 72, of Marquette, died Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at his home. A Memorial Service will be held 10:30 A.M., Friday, August 20th at the chapel of Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Inurnment will be in the Richland Cemetery at a later date. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. OBITUARY: CLAUDE SHIPPS Claude Melvin Shipps, the son of Wayne and Ruth (Sollman) Shipps, was born in Creighton, Nebraska on October 11, 1937 and died in Marquette, Nebraska on August 17, 2010 at the age of 72. Claude served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War from 1955-58. Claude worked at Swift Companies in Grand Island in the packing house as a meat cutter and at Goodwill Industries in Grand Island. Claude enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents. Those left to cherish his memory are Mary Coenen of Marquette; his five children, Kelly (Brenda) Shipps of Grand Island, Kent Shipps, Korey Shipps both of California, Jayna (Mike) Wells of Madison and Jacey Yarns of Grand Island; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, Al Shipps of Omaha, LeRoy Shipps of Stanton and Fred (Pam) Shipps of Norfolk and four sisters, Bertha (Phil) Burns of Arizona, Shirley (John) Carter of Bellevue, Mary (Barry) Lewis of Norfolk and Linda (Ed) Peterson of Norfolk. |
