Her family moved to Clay Center, when she was at an early age, and she attended West Lynn School. She resided at Clay Center until her marriage.

On August 24, 1931, she was united in marriage to James Shonkwiler, at Clay Center. They farmed northwest of Harvard, until poor health forced his retirement, and they moved to Aurora in 1955. He preceded her in death on July 22, 1955.

Pauline was baptized January 22, 1899, at Friend, Nebraska, in the German Evangelical Church. On May 21, 1914, she was confirmed in the Harvard Reform Zion Church. Later she was baptized in the Christian Church at Harvard, and she held her membership in that church until they moved to Aurora. When her health prevailed she had attended the Otterbein United Church in Aurora.

Pauline had made her home with her daughter Darlene for the past 22 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 brothers, Clarence, Reuben and Johnny Yager and one sister Edna Hamburger.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her daughter, Darlene Keasling and her husband Keith of Aurora; 4 grandchildren, Charles Keasling, Cindy Bradley, Carol and Carla Keasling; 3 great grandchildren, Derek Keasling, and Aaron and Jordan Bradley.
