Frieda Simpson

Funeral Services were held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, March 4, 1995 at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Interment was held at the Aurora Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Frieda Simpson

Frieda Ione Simpson, the daughter of John and Mary (Kaelin) Lanum, was born at Ansley, Nebraska, on April 20, 1096, and died at Lincoln, Nebraska, on March 1, 1995, at the age of 88 years, 10 months, and 11 days.

She grew up in Ansley and graduated from Ansley High School with the class of 1923. After graduation, she and her mother ran a ladies ready-to-wear store in Ansley.

On August 4, 1926, she was united in marriage to Volney Simpson at Mason City, Nebraska. He preceded her in death on July 22, 1975. Following her marriage she continued working in the ready-to-wear store. In 1943, they moved to Aurora, where she was employed by Anawalt & White as a buyer for 11 years. Following the death of her husband she worked at the Hamilton Manor from 1976 until she retired in 1980.

Frieda was a faithful member of the Aurora United Methodist Church, and after her retirement she enjoyed quilting with the other church women. She also belonged to the United Methodist Women, and the Dorcas Circle. She was a member of the Aurora Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, and was a Rainbow Mother. She also belonged to the National Campers & Hikers Association, was an avid bridge player, was a 50 year bridge club member, and was active in many other groups and funcions.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Volney.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her daughter Marlen McHargue and her husband Billy of Lincoln; 3 grandchildren, Vicky and Steve Winfrey of Lincoln, Devvie and Skip Cayette of Chesapeake, Virginia, and Mike and Tami McHargue of Raymond; 11 great grandchildren, Michaela Dubbs, Dathan Dubbs, Dustin Dubbs, Ashley Cayette, Tara Cayette, Erin Cayette, Ann Winfrey, Landon Winfrey, Morgan Winfrey, Cortney McHargue, and Laura McHargue, and a grandson-in-law Danny Dubbs.
