Eva SimsFuneral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 7, 1997 at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: Eva Sims Eva Mae Sims, the daughter of Fred and Edith (Day) Shipley, was born north of Murphy, Nebraska, on April 6, 1916, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on October 3, 1997, at the age of 81 years, 5 months, and 27 days. When she was 3 years old the family moved to a farm north of Aurora, where she attended country school. In 1933, she graduated from Aurora High School. She then taught school for 3 years. On March 15, 1939, she was united in marriage to Cecil Sims, at York, Nebraska. They moved to Hazard for 4 years, then to a farm north of Aurora for one year, and spent a year in York County. Then they moved to a farm south west of Marquette, where they lived for 40 years, before moving into their present home in Aurora in 1985. Eva was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church, was very active in church work, and belonged to the church circles. She had been a Sunday School teacher and had sung in the church choir. She had sung in the County Choir, was a member of the S.O.S. Club and had belonged to a pinochle club. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister Velva Hansen. Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband, Cecil of Aurora, and a brother Ervin Shipley, of Santa Rosa, California. |
