OBITUARY: MARY ELLEN SKINNER

Mary Ellen (Eggert) Skinner, the daughter of Merle H. and Mary Alta (Bailey) Eggert, was born in Hastings, Nebraska on September 5, 1921 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on August 6, 2002, at the age of 80.

She graduated from Phillips High School in 1938, and then attended Kearney State Teachers College where she received her teaching certificate. She taught school for three years in rural schools in Hamilton County.

Mary Ellen was united in marriage to Edward (Pink) Skinner on February 20, 1942 at Grand Island. They farmed in the Phillips area for 19 years. During this time Mary Ellen was very active with 4-H Clubs, serving as a club leader for 9 years. In 1961, the family moved to Aurora where Mary Ellen was employed at the Farmers State Bank and the Soil Conservation Office. She was a member of the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, the Federated Clubs of America, the local chapter of the American Diabetes Association, and served on the Board of Aurora Methodist Church.

When "Pink" retired, they traveled extensively and on many of these travels Mary Ellen did research on her genealogy. She enjoyed this genealogy work immensely as well as all kinds of crafts and sewing. Her home was filled with her beautiful creations. "Pink" passed away on December 31, 1997.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a daughter, Carol Sue.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Judith A. Skinner of Prescott, Arizona and Christine K. (Jeff) Pearson of Lovell, Wyoming; 3 grandchildren, Daniel (Erin) Russell of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Matthew (Christy) Russell of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Douglas (Lara) Russell of Aurora, Colorado; 4 great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Zachary, Brietta and Rylan and one brother, Robert G.
