ESTHER SMITH

Esther Smith, age 102, died Thursday, August 29, at Hamilton Manor in Aurora.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 3, at Pleasant View Bible Church in Aurora, with Rev. Rick Prettyman officiating. Burial will be in Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: ESTHER SMITH

Esther Anna Smith, the daughter of William and Barbara (Springer) Oswald, was born near Aurora on June 17, 1900, and died at Hamilton Manor in Aurora on August 29, 2002, at the age of 102.

She attended school in district 64, and graduated from Aurora High School.

On January 1, 1927 she was united in marriage to J. W. Bill Smith at York. They lived near Giltner until moving to a farm near Aurora in 1953. Bill preceded her in death on July 4, 1954. After his death Esther moved to Aurora and worked in the Aurora Schools until her retirement. She has resided at the Hamilton Manor for the last few years.

She was a member of the Pleasant View Bible Church.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill, her daughter Elaine Ulmer, brothers Raymond and Gilbert Oswald, and a sister Edith Springer.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are 4 grandchildren, Clifford Ulmer and his wife Phyllis of Utah, Cindy Nelson and her husband Ken of California, Bill Ulmer and his wife Quilla of Aurora, Nebraska, and John Ulmer and his wife Pam of Iowa, 5 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
