David G. Smith
David G. Smith, age 43, of Aurora, died Sunday, December 27, 2009 at Memorial Hospital. David’s Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, December 31st at Zion Lutheran Church north of Hampton. Rev. Loren Cooper will officiate. Interment will be at Hampton City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 – 8 P.M. Wednesday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. The family will receive friends from 5 –7. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hampton Lutheran School. SMITH David Guy Smith, the son of Gerald and Judy (Miller) Smith, was born in Baker, Oregon on October 7, 1966 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on December 27, 2009, at the age of 43. David grew up in Baker, Oregon and the family later moved to Ansley, Nebraska where he graduated from Ansley High School in 1984. David also attended Kearney State College for a short time. David was united in marriage to Beverly Johnson on January 25, 1986. They settled in Aurora in 1991. David worked in various health care facilities including working at Memorial Hospital. David taught classes for the American Red Cross. This last fall he helped coach the Grand Island Heartland Lutheran Football Team. David also served on the Hampton Lutheran School Board. David loved his children. Hampton Lutheran School was his great passion. He also enjoyed his cars. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother and paternal grandparents. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Beverly Smith of Aurora; two children, Ethan and Courtney Smith both of Aurora; parents, Gerald & Judy Smith of Gothenburg; twin brother, Rick (Julie) Smith of Kearney; brother, Brad Smith of California; father-in-law & mother-in-law, Gwyn & Kathy Johnson of Hampton; brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Brad & Marsha Johnson of North Platte; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Bill & Sandy Blender of Grand Island; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. |
