Mabel SmithFuneral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, April 28, 1993 at the Pleasant View Bible Church in Aurora. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: Mabel Smith Mabel Ruth Smith, the daughter of Joseph and Emma (Eicher) Springer, was born on a farm southwest of Aurora, Nebraska, on July 10, 1905, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on April 25, 1993, at the age of 87 years, 9 months, and 15 days. She attended Star School District #68. On July 25, 1927, she was united in marriage to Wesley F. Smith, at Aurora. He preceded her in death on January 23, 1980. They farmed southwest of Aurora, until they retired and moved into Aurora in 1976. In October of 1980, she entered the Hamilton Manor in Aurora, where she had many friends. Mabel was baptized in the Pleasant View Church as a small girl, and was a lifetime member of the Pleasant View Bible Church in Aurora. She was also a lifetime member of the North Community Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son David, a great grandson Chad Deets, 5 brothers, Albert Joseph, Benjamin, William and Leroy Springer; 3 sisters, Salome, Lydia and Emma. She was the last member of her family. Those who remain to cherish her memory are her daughter Barbara and her husband Lloyd Dietrich, of Aurora; a daughter-in-law June Smith of Aurora; 7 grandchildren, Laura Deets of Pleasanton, Brenda Wohlgemuth of Holdrege, Barry Dietrich of Marquette, Leslie Biggs of Sidney, Rhonda Rail of Hastings, Theresa Hager of Omaha, and Sidney Smith of Redondo Beach, California; and 13 great grandchildren. Mabel loved her family above all else, and enjoyed their visits to the end. She loved keeping up with the great grandchildren’s school projects and activities. |
