DONALD SNOBERGER

Donald Snoberger, age 96, formerly of Aurora, died Saturday morning, December 13, 2003, at Homestead Health Care in Lincoln.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, December 16th at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Rev. Brian Kottas will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. Monday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: DONALD SNOBERGER

Donald E. Snoberger, the son of Harry and Edna (Clark) Snoberger, was born in Inland, Nebraska on December 7, 1907 and died in Lincoln, Nebraska on December 13, 2003, at the age of 96.

He grew up near Inland, graduated from Hastings High School, and attended Hastings College.

For a time, Don lived in Chicago where he worked at Bowman Dairy.

Don was united in marriage to Freeda Jeffers on January 20, 1934 at Central City, Nebraska. They lived in Clay County for one year and then farmed in Hamilton County until 1960 when they moved to Aurora. Don worked at the Aurora Coop and John Deere Dealership for several years before retiring. Freeda passed away on August 8, 1993. Don moved to Lincoln in April, 2000.

Don was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church where he served on many committees over the years. He was an active member of the Lion?s Club, served on the Aurora City Council, and was Chairman of the ASCS Committee. He especially enjoyed volunteering at The Plainsman Museum in Aurora.

Don loved to sing and for many years participated in the United Methodist Church Men's Chorus. He also loved reading and reciting poetry.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 3 brothers, and 3 sisters.

Those left to cherish his memory are his three children, Leon Snoberger of San Diego, California, Curt Snoberger and his wife Rozanne of Lincoln, and Beth Knievel and her husband Daniel of State College, Pennsylvania; his grandchildren, Brooke Snoberger, Jason Knievel and his wife Jennifer, Ann Knievel, and Erika and Adam Snoberger; a sister-in-law, Marie Smith of Omaha; and many nieces and nephews.
