Donald E. Snyder
Donald Snyder, age 71, of Aurora, died Sunday, March 8, 2009, at the V.A. Hospital in Omaha. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, March 13th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora. Father Dennis Hunt will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m. on Thursday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary, with the Rosary at 7:00 P.M. OBITUARY: DONALD “DON” SNYDER Donald Eugene Snyder, the son of LeRoy and Carmella (Cavone) Snyder was born on May 5, 1937 at Melrose Park, Illinois and passed away March 8, 2009 at Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 71. Donald grew up Melrose Park, Illinois. He completed high school and went on to serve in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era. He was honorable discharged in June of 1963. Donald returned to the Chicago area after the service to work as a truck driver at the American Can Co and as a new car prep manager at a car dealership. Donald was united to Shirley Stevens on October 25, 1975 at Chicago, Illinois. When they moved to Aurora, Donald worked as a chef at the Hamilton Motor Inn and then as head cook at Hamilton Manor until his death. He also had his own business of refinishing furniture. Donald loved to spend time with his grandchildren. He was an avid train collector. Donald was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Christina Snyder, brother, Harold Snyder and niece, Margherite Erpete. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Shirley Snyder of Aurora; daughter, Elisa (Randy) Foged of Aurora; 7 grandchildren, Trey Snyder, Sierra, Gage, Shae, Dominic and Madison Foged and Crysta Adams; sisters & brothers-in-law, Darlene (Nicole) Erpete of Lombard, Illinois and Janet (Morris) Quillin of Grand Island; sister-in-law, Diana Reed of Kettering, England; nieces and nephews, Debra Goetz, Lisa (Tim) Cazplewski, Amodio (Melissa) Erpete and Stephen Reed and other family members and friends. |
