Genevieve Sopher
Genevieve Sopher, age 92, of Aurora died Tuesday, April 20, 2004, at the Hamilton Manor in Aurora. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Friday, April 23rd at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Aurora. Fr. Craig Doty will officiate. Interment will be in the West Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Grand Island. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. Thursday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora, with the Rosary at 7:30 P.M. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com. OBITUARY: GENEVIEVE SOPHER Genevieve M. Sopher, the daughter of Leo J. and Nellie (Buecker) Bader, was born in Rhineland, Missouri on December 27, 1911 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on April 20, 2004, at the age of 92. Genevieve attended Starkenburg, Missouri a Catholic School. She came to Nebraska with her family in 1926. She attended Grand Island Business College. Genevieve began her employment with Sears Roebuck and Company in Grand Island in 1932. Genevieve was united in marriage to Milo Sopher on April 18, 1936 at Grand Island. In 1957, she moved with her family to Ogden, Utah and continued her work as an auditor for the Sears Store there and later in Salt Lake City. Milo passed away on March 1, 1971. She retired in 1978 and returned to Nebraska in 1987. Genevieve was a former member of St. Mary's Cathedral Parish and was a member of the Altar Society and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America for 58 years. She was a member of the St. Mary's Altar Society in Aurora. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Barbara Guthmann and Theresa Sopher and three brothers, Urban A., Alois and Jerome Bader. Those left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Patricia Krossa and her husband Bill of Fayetteville, Georgia and Mary Margaret Floresta of Henderson, Nevada; 6 grandchildren, Katherine Tanner, Jeanne Hunt, John Sparks, Jason Davies, Bradley Davies and his wife Heather and Julie Haselhuhn and her husband Ryan and 8 great-grandchildren, Pamela Younker, Kayla Hull, Jake Tanner, Sarah Hunt, Patrick Hunt, Chelsea Hunt, Cyanea Davies and Kelcie Davies. She is also survived by two sisters, Sister Mary Barbara Bader of Grand Island and Mrs. Bernard (Nellie) McMahon of Giltner. |
