Christian Sorensen

Christian 'Chris' Sorensen, age 88, of Marquette, died Wednesday morning, July 16, 2003, at Memorial Hospital in Aurora.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, July 18th at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Kronborg. Rev. Jack Eske will officiate. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. Thursday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 P.M. OBITUARY: CHRISTIAN SORENSEN

Christian Kjeldsen Sorensen, the son of Alfred and Anna (Kjeldsen) Sorensen, was born in Marquette, Nebraska on March 23, 1915 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on July 16, 2003, at the age of 88.

He grew up in Marquette and attended Country School through the 8th grade. Chris served in U.S. Army during World War II.

Chris was united in marriage to Jean Jensen on August 12, 1949. They farmed and in 1950 moved to Fullerton. In 1966, they moved back to Marquette, where they continued farming.

Chris was baptized April 26, 1959 at St. John's Lutheran Church at Kronborg, where he remained a member until his death.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mathilda and Marie, brother, Svend and a granddaughter, Kristi.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Jean of Marquette; four children, Robert Sorensen and his wife Kathy of Fullerton, Joan Miller and her husband Frank of Central City, Marie Hicks and her husband Bill of Falun, Kansas and Clyde Sorensen and his wife Debra of Phillips; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a nephew, Rueben Madsen of Hiawatha, Kansas.
