Lloyd SpaffordFuneral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, August 14, 1979 at Higby Mortuary. Interment was held at Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: Lloyd N. Spafford Lloyd N. Spafford, the son of Nathan and Fannie Giltner Spafford, was born at Aurora, Nebraska on November 5, 1892. His death occurred at Aurora, Nebraska on August 11, 1979 at the age of 86 years 9 months and 6 days. As a young boy, the family left this community and moved to California where he completed his education. He served in the Army Air Force in World War One and again in World War Two. Between his army services, he resided in California. In 1947 he returned to Aurora, where he has since resided. Spaf had always been interested in youth. He served for 27 years as a Boy Scout Leader in California and for five years after coming to Aurora. The he took over the management of the Junior Legion Baseball program for the American Legion in Aurora. Many of his boys went on to make it good in High School, College and Professional sports. He was voted a Honorary Membership in the Aurora “A” Club and the Kearney State “K” Club. He was also active in other civic and fraternal affairs. He was affiliated with the Federated Church. Was the recipient of the Aksarmen Good Neighbor Award; and had been awarded a Fifty years membership pin from the Masonic Lodge and the American Legion. His parents and two brothers preceded him in death. His only survivors are “HIS BOYS” and many close friends. |
