Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Thursday, January 17, 1991 at Higby Mortuary. Interment was held in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Glendale, California.

OBITUARY: Elsie Sproat

Elsie Emma Anna Sproat, the daughter of Albert and Mary (Gehrke) Piper, was born at Edgemont, South Dakota, on February 2, 1900, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on January 15, 1991, at the age of 90 years, 11 months, and 13 days.

Her childhood was spent in Lincoln, Nebraska, where she graduated from Lincoln High School. She later attended Business School in Lincoln, and then worked in Lincoln as a court reporter for the Railway Commission. In 1920 she moved to California where she worked as a secretary for an Insurance Company.

On September 7, 1926, she was united in marriage to Verne V. Sproat, at Hollywood, California. He preceded her in death in 1954.

After his death she was employed as a secretary for the Far West Ski Association in Laguna Beach, California. From 1983 to 1985 she resided in Hemet, California. On October 18, 1985, she came to Aurora and resided with her niece Mary Jacobs. In October of 1989, she moved to the Hamilton Manor in Aurora.

During World War II, she did volunteer work for the Red Cross in California, which involved driving an ambulance.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 brothers, and one sister.

She is survived by nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Dwain (Mary) Jacobs of Aurora
