Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, March 31, 1987 at Higby Mortuary. Interment was held in the Utica Cemetery in Utica, Nebraska.

OBITUARY: Ralph Spry

Ralph William Spry, the son of William and Margaret (Burge) Spry, was born at Old Vernon, Indiana, on June 25, 1895, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on March 28, 1987, at the age of 91 years, 9 months, and 3 days.

The family moved to Nebraska, when he was 9 years old, and they farmed near Utica.

On November 7, 1916, he was united in marriage to Myrtle Dean at Seward, Nebraska.

They moved to Aurora in 1929, and operated the SYA Café, and later he was appointed to the Aurora Police Department. Ralph was police chief for 9 years, and was also chief of the Aurora Volunteer Fire Department for 12 years. In 1958 he was elected county sheriff and served for 13 years, retiring in 1971. He had also belonged to the Masons and Shrine.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Claude and Ellis, and one sister Gladys Spry.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Myrtle; one daughter June and her husband Reuben Johnson; one brother Ray Spry of Indianapolis, Indiana; 3 sisters, Edna Spry of Tempe, Arizona, Ruth Cardinal of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Edith Schantz of Las Vegas, Nevada; 2 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
