Maxine Stenson

Maxine Stenson, age 88, of Aurora, died Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at the Hamilton Manor.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, April 4th at the Higby-McQuiston Chapel in Aurora. Dr. F. Cole Fowler will officiate. Interment will be in Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: MAXINE STENSON

Dorothy Maxine Stenson, the daughter of Bert and Dora (McClay) Guilford, was born in Hamilton County, Nebraska on February 25, 1921 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on April 1, 2009, at the age of 88.

She grew up on the family farm near Aurora and attended country school. Maxine graduated from Aurora High School Class of 1938. Maxine and her sister ran a café in Aurora.

Maxine married Wendell Dallis Stenson on January 27, 1944. She worked as a bookkeeper for the shop. Then was at Jim’s in the bakery department and then in the sewing department at Ben Franklin. Maxine was also a seamstress who worked out of her home for many years. Wendell passed away on January 24, 1996.

Maxine was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed sewing in her spare time.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; brothers, Vancil Guilford and Dale Guilford in infancy and son-in-law, Brad Beckett.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two children, Connie Beckett of Grass Valley, California and Dennis (Margo) Stenson of Aurora; granddaughter, Brandy (Nathan) May of Andover, Minnesota; great-grandchildren, Keegan and Ansley May and sister, Alberta Heintz of Aurora.
