Wendell Stenson

Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, January 27, 1996 at Higby Mortuary. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Wendell Stenson

Wendell Dallis Stenson, the son of Charles and Beuhla (Dellis) Stenson, was born at Aurora, Nebraska, on November 16, 1917, and died at Grand Island, Nebraska, on January 24, 1996, at the age of 78 years, 2 months, and 8 days.

He grew up at Aurora, and received his education in the Aurora Schools. He worked on construction and did farm work until entering the United States Navy on October 20, 1937, serving his country during World War 2, until his discharge on October 29, 1945.

On January 27, 1944, he was united in marriage to Maxine Guilford. They resided in Aurora where he was employed by Newman Motors for 15 years, and later owned and operated a mechanic and machine shop from 1962 until 1975, when he began working for the city of Aurora. After his retirement he worked for the Aurora Cemetery.

Wendell was a long time member of the Aurora Volunteer Fire Department and has served as chief for a number of years. He was also a member of the Aurora V.F.W.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Maurice.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Maxine of Aurora; one son Dennis and his wife Margo, of Aurora; one daughter Connie Beckett and her husband Brad, of Grass Valley, California; 2 sisters, Geraldine Harris of Clearwater, Florida, and Phyllis Martin of Lincoln, and one grand daughter Brandy Stenson.
