Mary Lee Stevenson
Mary Lee Stevenson, age 87, of ElDorado, Kansas, died Monday morning, March 10, 2003, at the Hamilton Manor in Aurora, Nebraska. A Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, March 14th at the Christian Church in ElDorado, Kansas. Rev. Stan Seymour will officiate. Inurnment will be at Walnut Valley Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, The Parkinson Foundation or Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. OBITUARY: MARY LEE STEVENSON Mary Lee Stevenson, the daughter of John Parry and Emma Lee (Gatrell) Skinner, was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia on January 19, 1916 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on March 10, 2003, at the age of 87. Her family moved to ElDorado in 1918, during the oil boom. Mary Lee spent all of her school years in ElDorado, where she graduated from ElDorado High School in 1935. Mary Lee was united in marriage to Leo D. Stevenson on April 2, 1936 at Lyons, Kansas. Leo worked in the oil industry and they had to relocate many times over the years to follow the work. They returned to ElDorado in 1946 to raise their two daughters. Leo passed away in June 2001. Mary Lee was a true home maker. She was good cook and loved to entertain, filling her home and life with family and friends. She delivered Meals on Wheels for over 20 years. Through the years she enjoyed reading, playing cards, doing crafts, sewing, square dancing and camping. She was a member of First Christian Church, where she was involved the Women's Circle and Victory Sunday School Class and had served in many other capacities. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers John, Berlin Hugh and Bill Skinner, son-in-law, Roy Lowmaster and a grandson, Steve Usrey. Those left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, June Usrey and her husband Kenneth of Grand Island and Vicki Lowmaster of ElDorado; 7 grandchildren, Terry Lowmaster of ElDorado, Melissa Smith and Angela Hillebert both of Topeka, Cynthia Kerns of Danco, Colorado, Scott Usrey and Todd Usrey both of Grand Island and Tammy Wallen of Reedley, California and 13 great-grandchildren. |
