Harold Stuhr

Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, September 4, 1985 at the Phillips United Methodist Church. Interment was held in the Grand Island City Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Harold Stuhr

Harold Henry Stuhr, the son of Peter and Emma (Luebs) Stuhr, was born at Grand Island, Nebraska, on July 15, 1912, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on August 30, 1985, at the age of 73 years, 1 month and 15 days.

He grew up in the Phillips area and graduated from Phillips High School and was valedictorian of his class.

On April 23, 1946, he was united in marriage to Marcella Lempke at Grand Island. She passed away on July 16, 1947. On February 18, 1948, he married Fern Gimpel at Grand Island, and she preceded him in death on May 1, 1982.

He served his country in the U.S. Army, from March 20, 1942, until September 28, 1945. He was involved in the battles at Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe.

He had farmed before and after his military service until December of 1978, when he retired and moved into Phillips.

Harold was a member of the Phillips United Methodist Church, the Platt-Duetsche Society, had belonged to the Phillips Lions Club, the Aurora V.F.W. and the Lester S. Harter Post #42, of the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wives.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his 3 daughters, Mrs. (Barb) Dale McBride of Phillips, Mrs. (Elaine) Leon Graves of Aurora and Mrs. (Jan) Dick Wetzel of Albany, Oregon; one brother, Elvin Stuhr of Mesa, Arizona; 7 grandchildren, and many other relatives and a host of close friends.
