Don Swartz

Don Swartz, age 72, formerly of Aurora, died Monday, November 13, 2000, at his home in Bella Vista, Arkansas.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday at the Higby Mortuary Chapel in Aurora. Rev. Dale Sallans will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in York, Nebraska. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M., Thursday at Higby Mortuary in Aurora. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to the American Cancer Fund or to St. Mary’s Hospice in Rogers, Arkansas.

OBITUARY: DON SWARTZ

Don Swartz, the son of William J. and Rose M. (Riek) Swartz, was born on a farm near Lushton, Nebraska on June 8, 1928 and died in Bella Vista, Arkansas on November 13, 2000, at the age of 72 years, 4 months and 15 days.

He attended a country elementary school and graduated from Lushton High School. Don then went to Milford Community College and specialized in Auto Bodywork for 45 years, a trade he followed until retirement in 1990. He worked for Vetter Bros. Dodge for 35 years and 10 years in Management for Stan Allen Motors Buick, Chevrolet and Pontiac in Aurora. He was very talented with making things and working with his hands.

Don was united in marriage to Marie Nuss on December 10, 1954 in Aurora. The couple lived in Aurora. In 1977 they moved to Central City, and to Bella Vista, Arkansas in 1994.

He served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Elks, Eagles, Masonic Lodge and the American Legion. Don joined the Presbyterian Church in Bella Vista.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one grandson.

Survivors include his wife, Marie of Bella Vista, Arkansas; two daughters, Donna Baur and her husband Michael of Waverly, Nebraska and Beverly Conkling and her husband Jamison of Hutchinson, Kansas; one sister, Darlene Miltner and her husband Don of Lincoln, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Carol Swartz of Grand Island, Nebraska; one granddaughter; nieces, nephews and many friends.
