EDWARD TIERNEY
Edward Tierney, age 75, of Aurora, died Saturday, August 31, 2002 at Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 4, at the Assembly of God Church in Aurora with Rev. Jim Garfield officiating. Burial will be in Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. OBITUARY: EDWARD TIERNEY Edward Duane Tierney, the son of Albert and Ruby (Francisco) Bassett, was born in Albion on September 30, 1926 and died in Lincoln, Nebraska on August 31, 2002, at the age of 75 years. The family moved to St. Edward where Ed attended school until enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1943. He was discharged in 1946 and returned to St. Edward. On September 29, 1946 he was united in marriage to Gladys Ragland at Albion. They lived in Albion where he drove a truck. They moved to Central City where he did farm work, and then to Grand Island where he worked at the Ordinance Plant. In 1962 they moved to a farm near Central City, and later returned to Grand Island. In 1994 they moved to Aurora. During 60 years of his life, Ed drove a truck. Ed was a member of the Assembly of God church in Aurora. He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father John Tierney, a son Kenneth, and 5 brothers, Robert, Gerald, James, Vernon, and Byron Bassett. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Gladys, 7 sons, Larry (Cathy) of Columbus, Tim of Aurora, Derrick of Lincoln, Les of Lincoln, Terry (Cindy) of Lincoln, Mark (Sherri) of Marquette, and Edwin Jr. of Lincoln; 3 daughters, Bonnie Jean Ainsworth (Dale) of Aurora, Sharon Gonzales of Aurora, and Sandra Susan Warren of Waverly; and 30 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. |
