Funeral Services were held 10:00 A.M., Monday, October 12, 1987 at Higby Mortuary. Interment was held in the Riverton Cemetery in Riverton, Nebraska.

OBITUARY: Kate Tietjen

Kate Ann Tietjen, the daughter of William and Ellen Woods Newbold, was born in a sod house south of Minden on February 26, 1905, and passed away at Lincoln, Nebraska, on October 9, 1987, at the age of 82 years, 7 months, and 13 days.

She attended and was raised to adulthood in Franklin County.

On December 24, 1923, she was united in marriage to Grant Rupard. To this union one daughter, Eudice was born. They lived in Denver until Grant’s death on September 30, 1927. Kate then returned to Riverton, Nebraska with her daughter to live with her parents.

On March 4, 1931, she was married to Arthur Tietjen. Most of their married life they farmed in Franklin and Hamilton Counties. In 1938 they moved to Aurora, Nebraska. Arthur passed away on March 14, 1981.

Due to failing health during the past year, Kate has resided at Village Manor Care Center in Lincoln for the past 6 months.

She was a member of the Christian Church in Aurora.

Kate was preceded in death by her husbands, her parents, and 2 brothers.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her daughter, Eudice Swick of Lincoln; one brother, Day Newbold of Grand Junction, Colorado; 2 sisters, Alice Hummell of Fort Collins, Colorado and Jennie Brown of Franklin, Nebraska; grandchildren, L. Kay Davis, Ray Swick and his wife Florence, and Robert J. Swick all of Lincoln; 5 great-grandchildren, John, Michael, and Jason Davis, and Kimberly and Ryan Swick all of Lincoln; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
